“It reminds us of the creative freedom seen in many Disney and Pixar short films where the filmmakers can explore new narratives that only animation can execute. ”

A schoolboy's drawing comes to life! It does not take long until the drawn man grows a disdain to its blank and bland environment. After spotting a potentially exciting and luscious location beyond the PAGE'S EDGE, the drawn man must get to it through sheer will and effort.

It’s film like Page’s Edge that remind us why we love animation so much and how they can create powerful stories that live action film can’t. This sweet and playful short film from director ‘Isaac Camilleri’ reminds us of the creative freedom seen in many Disney and Pixar short films where the filmmakers can explore new narratives that only animation can execute.

Let’s also remind everyone that this is a student film, not because that gives them some allowance in the production of the film but because it’s so well done you wouldn’t think it! The visuals are grounded yet effective and work incredibly well with the animation. The drawn man looks great and does something that is most challenging in animations, make you care about them. It doesn’t take long before the drawn man captures your attention and you can’t help but root for him. It’s impressive considering the simplicity of the design of the character, but the story and score help to make this a stand out short film which everyone involved should be proud of.

The score from ‘Paul Trenchard’ is artistic in its approach using many abstract sound to create a unique and compelling sound to match the film. It helps to give the film its own quirky identity that fits in with the story. This is an example of what happens in films when sound and visuals are working hand in hand to create memorable moments. We’re reminded of scores from such films as ‘Soul’ and even ‘The Snowman’. it’s incredibly well thought out.

We can’t recommend this film enough, it will entertain audiences of all kinds and leave them with a poignant message about what really makes each person happy…
