Kaleidoscope.

“Best Thriller”

★★★★

“Granera understands the genre well and meticulously creates a sense of fear, action and mystery throughout.”

What starts off as a relatively normal opening, takes a swerve as a blue aura fills the screen and sets the tone of the film. Kaleidoscope tells the story of an empath with extraordinary powers which she uses to help others. However when she discovers a sinister feeling invading her apartment, she decides to find the source of it.

Colour is a key element in this film moving forward and helps craft a unique and visually enticing piece.

Lead actress Tiffany Daniels delivers a grounded and believable performance throughout the film, showing a depth to her character which keeps the audience invested. Daniels is what holds this film together and is relatable in her role.

Director Jorge Granera takes on a risky concept here but manages to pull it off. The use of VFX and lighting fit well together and helps visualise the empathic energy between the hero and villain. Granera understands the genre well and meticulously creates a sense of fear, action and mystery throughout.

This short manages to deliver and create a story worth expanding on. The cinematography and overall production quality is excellent and helps to capture the atmosphere and genre. The lighting is well done and doesn’t feel unnatural, it works perfectly with the VFX and adds to the style of the film. Aspects like this will grab the viewers attention and keep them invested. The score is what connects all the dots and provides the urgency needed for this thriller.

We hope Granera expands on this story further as it could work perfectly as a feature.
